Romance After your vacation

A vacation can turn out to be truly memorable when you take it with the one you love. All those walks along sandy white beaches, the brilliant sunsets and those ultra romantic dinners. It is enough to make you fall in love with each other all over again.

But we all know that we must head back to reality. When your vacation ends, you travel back home with a heavy heart. Back to the same old routines and the same drudge. The excitement that you found in each other fade into the background of the daily toils and stress.

Keeping the romance alive after an ultra romantic vacation, for example to somewhere like the Maldives, can be a daunting task for many couples. And for others a romantic vacation could spell the end of the relationship. This happens as a result of the romantic high you live on while on vacation and the dash of the cold reality when you go back home.

However, there are ways that you can consciously try and keep the romance going on even after your vacation. One of them is to try and bring your newfound interests back home with you and incorporate them into your daily life. Sure, this is trickier than it sounds. You may not be able to go diving together in the middle of the city, but you can sure take a walk in the park.

Something else that seem to work is keeping up the ‘vacation sex’. On vacation, couples tend to be more open, free of routines and the habitual ways of relating that have replaced real connecting in their relationship. By letting go of these habitual ways, you are more vulnerable, attractive and attracted to your partners and more open to affection and physical intimacy. Thus, you tend connect at a deeper level during your vacation.

You should try and up-keep this by ensuring that you make time for just the two of you to be together. Have date nights and while these may not measure up to the romantic dinners that you enjoyed on vacation, try and infuse the romance into the night. It could be something as simple as lighting a candle and switching off the TV when you are enjoying a dinner at home. When you are with the right person, sometimes a home cooked candlelit dinner can rival an exotic dinner on a foreign beach.

All it takes is a little effort on your part to keep those fires stoked even after a great vacation together. So put in that effort and you are on your way to having a great relationship.
