Community Guideline

These guidelines are designed to ensure the Maldives Traveller community is an enjoyable, inspiring and safe one for all our users. 

Community mean all of the places on www.maldivestraveller.mv where users hang out and can contribute.

We may update these guidelines and recommend you check back once in a while. We'll also continue to introduce new community features which will fall under these guidelines.

Certain areas within www.maldivestraveller.mv may have their own guidelines. Please read these carefully and respect them.

You are permitted to create multiple accounts on www.maldivestraveller.com, but they must have separate email addresses associated with them. Maldives Traveller reserves the right to discipline and terminate multiple accounts from the same user if the user has infringed our Terms of use or the spirit of these guidelines via any one of their accounts.

You are responsible for your interactions with other users. We reserve the right, but have no obligation, to monitor disputes between you and other users.

These guidelines apply to all content you contribute as part of the Maldives Traveller community, including your profile.

Member posted content on www.maldivestraveller.mv reflects the opinions and experience of those users, not Maldives Traveller.

Be sincere in your contributions. Post with purpose - to inspire, enable or share with fellow travellers.

Respect that other people have different points of view, travel journeys, styles, budgets and confidence levels. Don’t take things personally and get to the ‘must look at pictures of kittens to calm down’ stage.

Welcome newcomers. We love it when another person catches the travel bug.

Be specific: When posting a recommendation, or a question, the more context and specificity you can give, the better for everyone. We can’t read your mind and we don’t want to misunderstand your motives.

Give feedback, to your fellow travellers, and us, in a helpful and constructive manner.

Keep it legal. Don’t get yourself into trouble by defaming others, posting porn, ticket scalping, plotting illegal activities, or posting other people’s private information.

Travellers – We let you add your own review to all the points of interest we list around the website. For fellow travellers to get maximum benefit, remember to make your review constructive, balanced and full of as much context as possible.

Community Points


Community points are rewards you get according to your activities and number of "love it" (likes) on your posts. Points are redeemable only those travelling to the Maldives and you can use it during your Maldives holiday. 

Every 100 points earned equal US$1. Once you reach to 50,000 and 100,000 points, you are ready to redeem it. When you reach to 50,000 points, you can redeem it for US$500 worth gift items (catalogue will be provided once you are ready to redeem). When you reach to 100,000 points, you can redeem it for US$500 worth gift items plus US$500 to pay your consumptions during your Maldives holiday (to pay on your behalf, you need to inform us 3 days before your checkout). Plus when 10 people reach to 500,000 points, in a random draw, a lucky winner will be given one week free holiday to the Maldives.

  • Each comment on your post, you will receive 1 point

  • Each "love it" (Like) on your post, you will receive 1 point

  • Each word in your review, you will earn 1 point (you can use maximum 1,000 words, which means by writing a review you can earn 1,000 points)

  • Each photo you upload, you will earn 2 points

  • If your photo is chosen for Photo of the day, you will receive 2 points

  • If your photo is used in news or feature story, you will receive 5 points

  • Every US$1 spent on Maldives Traveller Onlineshop, you will receive 10 points

Anyone entering travel details on "My Trip" is eligible to receive a Maldives Traveller goodie bag. This will be delivered during your stay in the Maldives.

You are welcome to share and post as many as you want. To earn more points be active and keep promoting your posts on Facebook, Twitter or other social networks. Enjoy the "Unique Experience by Traveller".
